Terence Fixmer - Fiction Fiction (2009)

Terence Fixmer is a true veteran of the underground techno scene
in France. For over 10 years he's been releasing music in the
field of dark techno and EBM for the likes of German electro
protagonist DJ Hell. His productions lack neither the aggressive
touch of industrial music, nor the decadent vocals of Douglas
McCarthy. His newest piece, 'Fiction Fiction', is however, a
turning point into a more dancey direction, but nevertheless the
deep atmosphere of mystery is still present in his works.
You should not be mistaken by the Vangelis type of melody in
'Fiction In' that has been arranged for elevator music. The
album's introduction is as deceitful as a promise to spend a
joyful holidays in an area controlled by local Pakistani tribes.
The following tracks, like 'Hypnotise', serve a powerful dose of
gothic flavoured industrial electronic music. The contemporary
EBM by Terence Fixmer û despite the fact the artist very often
builds electro motives on the canvas of black industrial û
doesn't hold any shade of kitsch. The final moment of this part
of the record is the cosmic and majestic track, 'Gravity 5'.
'Ghost in Love' and 'Frozen Tears', if you exclude the background
chords and vocal parts, are in fact an extension of the works of
Depeche Mode in the 80s. Opposed to these two new romantic
ôballadsö, stand productions that have been clearly flavoured
with minimal ('Flame' and 'River'), but the musical variety of
the album can only speak for its attractiveness.
